Carlos wins Best Paper Award at EGPA 2021 conference

Esther, Isabelle and Carlos, the ALGOPOL PhD’s, participated in the EGPA 2021 conference from September 7th – 10th. During the conference they presented their papers to the panel for e-Governance. They have received valuable feedback to continue their research with renewed inspiration.

As icing on the cake, Carlos was awarded the Best Paper Award in the panel for his paper ‘Street-level bureaucrats in the age of algorithms: An Ethnographic Research of Algorithms at the Dutch National Police’. The paper is about the daily use of algorithms by police public servants and it shows a nuanced picture of the interaction between human and machine.
